NOTICE OF RACE (NoR)
ORGANISING AUTHORITY (OA) is Lancing Sailing Club (LSC) in conjunction with the RS Class Association.
The notation ‘[NP]’ in a rule of the notice of race (NoR) means that a boat may not protest another boat for breaking that rule. This changes RRS 60.1.
- RULES
1.1 The event is governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing 2025-2028
1.2 Competitors shall sail in accordance with the RYA Racing Charter.
1.3 Competitors must abide by the RYA anti-doping policy.
1.4 Standard Class rules apply.
1.5 [NP] Rule 40.1 applies at all times when afloat.
2 SAILING INSTRUCTIONS
2.2 The Sailing Instructions (SI) will be available at the Event Online Notice Board and the physical notice board during the event
3 COMMUNICATION
3.1 The official noticeboard is located on Event Online Notice Board ahead of the event, and on the physical notice board on the Club House adjacent to the main entrance during the event.
3.2 [NP] While racing, except in an emergency, a boat shall not make voice or data transmissions and shall not receive voice or data communication that is not available to all boats.
4 ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY
4.1 The event is open to all boats of the RS Aero class.
4.2 Eligible boats may enter by completing the online form at Event Page and paying the required fees by 23:59 on Wednesday 8th July 2026
4.3 Late entries may be accepted at the OA’s discretion up to 09.59 on the day of racing. These will be subject to a £5 surcharge (refer 5.2)
4.4 Any competitors aged under 18 shall complete an Under 18s Consent Form. This can be downloadedfrom the RS Class Association websites and should be completed and handed in at registration.
5 FEES
5.1 Advance entry fee is £20. (£10 for youth sailors, under 19 yrs of age on 31st Dec 2026).
5.2 Late entry fee is £25 (£15 for youth sailors, under 19 yrs of age on 31st Dec 2026).
5.3 If the event is cancelled by the OA a refund less any costs incurred will be issued.
5.4 If a competitor cancels no refund will be given after the standard registration deadline (refer 4.2)
6 CREW LIMITATIONS
Does not apply.
7 ADVERTISING
[NP] Boats maybe required to display advertising chosen and supplied by the organising authority.
8 QUALIFYING SERIES AND FINAL SERIES
Does not apply.
9 SCHEDULE
9.1 Registration: Saturday 11th July 10:00 to 10:59.
9.2 Briefing: A briefing will be held at 11:15 on the Clubhouse patio

9.4 3 races are scheduled. Races will be sailed back-to-back after the first race of the day.
9.5 On the last scheduled day of racing no warning signal will be made after 16:00.
10 EQUIPMENT INSPECTION
10.1 Boats may be inspected at any time.
11 CLOTHING AND EQUIPMENT
11.1 RRS 40.1 shall apply at all times while afloat.
12 VENUE
12.1 The Sailing Area will be directly off the beach of LSC.
13 COURSES
13.1 The courses to be sailed will be trapezoidal (subject to confirmation in the SI and the race briefing)
14 PENALTY SYSTEM
14.1 Does not apply.
15 SCORING
15.1 Two races are required to be completed to constitute a series.
15.2 (a) If two or fewer than races have been completed, a boat’s series score will be the total of her race scores.
(b) If more than two races have been completed, a boat’s series score will be the total of her race scores excluding her worst score.
This changes RRS A2.
16 [NP] SUPPORT PERSON VESSELS
16.1 Support boats will not be allowed.
17 CHARTERED OR LOANED BOATS
17.1 Does not apply.
18 BERTHING
18.1 [DP] Boats shall be kept in their assigned places in the dinghy park.
19 DATA PROTECTION
19.1. Results,
As part of entering this event your results will be published in the public domain and may be given to the RYA for their Portsmouth Yardstick scheme and to the Class Association. While your results contain personal data, it is normal practice to expect that, when entering an event, your results will be published, and this is a condition of entry. It is therefore part of the contract to provide you with race entry and administration that we will publish the results, which may include such information such as sail number, sailing club, age and gender (if there are age and gender related results).
19.2. Photography,
By competing in this event, competitors grant to the organisers without payment the right in perpetuity to make, use and show any non-identifiable motion pictures, still pictures and live, taped or filmed television of or relating to the event and consent to these being published in class, club, sponsor and other publications and / or the class, club, sponsor or other websites.

22 RISK STATEMENT
22.1 RRS 3 of the Racing Rules of Sailing states: “The responsibility for a boat’s decision to participate in a race or to continue to race is hers alone”.
22.2 Sailing by its nature is an unpredictable sport and therefore inherently involves an element of risk. By taking part in the event, each competitor agrees and acknowledges that:
- They are aware of the inherent element of risk involved in the sport and accept responsibility for the exposure of themselves, their crew and their boat to such inherent risk whilst taking part in the event;
- They are responsible for the safety of themselves, their crew, their boat and their other property whether afloat or ashore;
- They accept responsibility for any injury, damage or loss to the extent caused by their own actions or omissions;
- Their boat is in good order, equipped to sail in the event and they are fit to participate;
- The provision of a race management team, patrol boats and other officials and volunteers by the event organiser does not relieve them of their own responsibilities;
- The provision of patrol boat cover is limited to such assistance, particularly in extreme weather conditions as can be practically provided in the circumstances;
- It is their responsibility to familiarise themselves with any risks specific to this venue or this event drawn to their attention in any rules or information produced for the venue or event and to attend any safety briefing held for the event.

- The organising authority will not accept any liability for loss, material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the event.
23 INSURANCE
Each participating boat shall be insured with valid third-party liability insurance with a minimum cover of £3,000,000 Pounds Sterling per incident or the equivalent.
24 PRIZES
Prizes will be awarded for the first 3 places for each fleet, plus spot prize for first youth.
25 FURTHER INFORMATION
25.1 There will be a barbecue and social held at the Clubhouse on the Saturday evening after racing. (Additional costs apply)
25.2 Refreshments available at the clubhouse – card payment only.
25.3 Car parking/drop of – vehicles are NOT to drive up the Shopsdam Road access track to the beach – this is a private road, with no turning circle. We will help unload/unhook your boat at the entrance to the track, please then park your vehicle in neighbouring roads, or there is an option to park in the nearby public car park and walk along the promenade: Lancing Beach Green Car Park (BN15 8RA). Assistance will be on hand to assist/direct you from 09.00, and again at the close of the event.
