… just incase you hadn’t spotted it!  Bringing sun, wind, and the Summer A Series starting this weekend! (Sailing Calendar here) The 2023 Spring Challenge Cup concluded last weekend, without much event with us losing the Monday racing due to a combination of conditions and interest. However, after the poor conditions affecting the Easter Series, we fared well with the spring conditions!

Well done to those that took the series honors ..

Next Weekend is a busy one.  Shoreham SC are hosting events around the Festival of the Sea.
On Saturday 10th there will be a series of 3 races back-to-back from 12 midday.  I understand the racing will be to the west of the harbour, so similar to Battle of the Beaches, but maybe a little further along.  For those interested entry and more details are here: Shoreham Sailing Club : Festival of the Sea.  (For those that are going, please make sure you work as a group, and no one left to fend for themselves heading home to Lancing after racing – if anyone is free to assist/spectate using a rescue boat please let Will know).

On the Sunday there is a 4th race at 10.30 am – long distance from Shoreham SC/harbour to Black Rock (essentially Brighton Marine)  It is open to Fast leet and Medium Fleet dinghies.   This is about 10 miles from Lancing SC, so 20-mile round trip, so might be of interest to only our bigger faster boats.  So, as this will be limited, we will be running our normal Sunday Racing as planned at Lancing.

Lastly, we have our first Saturday Pursuit Race on the Saturday 24th June – always a really good fun format – PLEASE PLEASE let me know if you can man the BBQ or the bar – we looking for some sailors to return the favour for the flurry of expertly run socials the swimmers have laid on recently!  All will be welcome for the post-race, evening social and BBQ.  To help with organisation, please confirm your interest on the website or by contacting Will for i) sailing, and ii) the social .   We have a similar event planned for Saturday 19 August too.
Happy sailing!!
